A dog friendly pub in West Sussex

We love dogs at the Half Moon. Canine visitors to our beautiful rural pub in West Sussex are always welcome and will enjoy complimentary doggy treats which you’ll find on the bar when you arrive. Out in the garden, we also have special water stations to make sure your pooch stays hydrated after walkies.

Dogs are welcome at the Half Moon

Dogs are welcome to sit, lie, roll over, play dead or even beg in the pub garden and in the bar, but not in the actual restaurant.

If you’re going for a day out, whether it’s a long walk through the beautiful West Sussex countryside or an exhilarating game of fetch in the forest, you’ll want your four-legged companion with you all day. And after an exhausting day out, there’s nothing better than a nice refreshing beer and bar snacks in a beautiful pub garden – except perhaps a tasty meal in a beautiful pub garden.

Sussex dog walks starting at the Half Moon pub in Kirdford

If you’re looking for some dog walk inspiration, we’ve got a couple of suggestions for where to take your dog for a walk before or after lunch. One route is a little over three miles long while the other, slightly longer one is between six and six and a half miles. Both of these walks are ideal for walking the dog, and what’s more they both start and end at the Half Moon – what could be better?

Shorter dog walk – 3.2 miles

Whether you’re looking to walk off your lunch or work up an appetite, this is a great trail to walk around Kirdford in West Sussex. It shouldn’t take you and your dog much more than an hour to get round and will take you across the River Kird, up towards Crawfold Farm and then back to the pub.

Longer dog walk – 6.25 miles

For the slightly more ambitious (or over over-indulgent) walker, this trail takes you through some of the flat, wooded and farmland countryside that makes up this quiet and picturesque corner of West Sussex.
